New demo Scenarios: IBP and SAP Meat and Fish Management by msg

Softproviding is now in the position to offer interested customers demos with different planning scenarios for SAP Integrated Business Planning (IBP) and SAP Meat and Fish Management by msg. On the one hand, we will discuss the possibilities of planning without IBP (manual optimization of disassembly), on the other hand, we will demonstrate the possibilities of automated planning with IBP (using optimization according to, for example, the margin). For this purpose, the S/4HANA demo system (with SAP Meat and Fish Management by msg, Release 5.80) and the Softproviding SAP IBP system, which was set up specifically for demo requests from customers, will be used.

Newsletter >12/2019 already described in detail how the integration of SAP Meat and Fish Management by msg and SAP IBP works and which data is exchanged between the two systems.

The following figure shows schematically how planning is linked to execution and how the two systems complement each other in balancing supply and demand in the protein industry:

IBP

This is where demand and long-term planning is carried out in IBP. Disassembly planning (balancing supply and demand) is carried out in SAP Meat and Fish Management by msg. It is based on the supply, which is made up of the livestock (live animals that are slaughtered) and the carcasses or primal cuts that are currently in the cold store and waiting to be cut. Any product that can be further cut is a possible input for disassembly planning.

If SAP IBP is used, disassembly planning is performed as restriction-based planning, that is, there are no restrictions on the number of runs or other restrictions defined at different levels of the cut list.
