SAP Info Day for the Protein Industry
The SAP Info Day for the Protein Industry took place for the first time in Dallas (US) on November 6, 2018. The Info Day is the successor event of the Protein Council and offers the unique opportunity to exchange ideas with other executives from the meat, poultry and fish industries and to promote best practices and innovations in the industry together with SAP.
The agenda offered a wealth of interesting topics dealing with the new challenges the industry is facing.
As the agenda shows, the afternoon was dedicated to SAP Meat and Fish Management by msg.
Hugo Olivares (Project Manager IT, Agrosuper), Esteban Osorio (Project Manager IT, Agrosuper) and Juan Enrique Rose Fischer (System Development Manager, Agrosuper) presented the conclusions from the Meat and Fish Management implementation and provided exciting insights into the successes and challenges of such a project.
As a special highlight, the integration of SAP IBP and disassembly planning in SAP Meat and Fish Management by msg was presented in a live demo in the contribution by Miguel Lander (Director, GoSCM) and Jan Grütter (Managing Director, Softproviding) titled The New SAP Meat and Fish Management Solution: Demand and Supply Planning, Push-Pull Balancing. The combination of the two solutions enables automated planning over multiple iterations in order to ensure the best possible requirements coverage based on the requirements from IBP and disassembly planning and to keep the surplus – including by-products – as low as possible.
After this, the execution of the orders generated in planning was carried out with the Meat and Fish Management shop floor applications. After the execution, target and actual values were available in addition to planned quantities and values. Full transparency on the yield and performance on the shop floor!
This was followed by a brief introduction to the new Cycle-Based Production module for the livestock management area, which has already aroused great interest among many of the participants.
The SAP Info Day for the Protein Industry attracted leading companies from the protein industry with Agrosuper, Bumble Bee Foods, Cargill, JBS USA, Johnsonville and Perdue Farms. This, together with the thoroughly positive feedback, gives grounds to hope for even more interested participants at the 2019 event.
