Shop Floor Applications in Further Processing
SAP Meat Management by msg is an SAP-ERP add-on for the protein industry that maps out sector-specific processes in companies. The fact that the numerous shop floor applications in different sectors represent an integral part of SAP Meat Management by msg is not apparent at first. Even the integration of devices into these applications is ensured by Meat Management, as we have already reported in previous articles (here, here and here)
In this article, we want to explain to you the most frequently used Meat Management shop floor applications in the further processing sector.
A broad range of implementations, which were partially implemented based on customer-specific processes but also after taking the infrastructure into consideration, can be found in Further Processing among various Meat Management customers. Process data acquisition can be streamlined considerably in Further Processing, and productivity can be increased, via the master data settings in conjunction with functions such as Order Pair Formation and PDA Strategies. The functions nonetheless ensure a high degree of transparency in terms of traceability and costs.
User Management
If user management is active in Meat Management, then the user must log into the terminal with their user data. The application described here can be used on different operating systems (such as iOS, Android, and Windows) and on different devices, such as handheld devices, industry PCs, or tablets.
Displaying Orders
A list of orders is displayed when the Further Processing Entry application is started. Due to the status check, only orders are shown as standard that are permitted for process data acquisition. The selection is made according to the current date. However, this can be changed manually or preset to the customer’s needs.
Goods Issue from Warehouse (Inbound into Further Processing Order)
All inbound items for the further processing order are displayed. The user can select the material for which the goods issued are to be recorded. The application then branches to the standardized screen for performing the PDAO (process data acquisition operation). On this screen, the relevant data for the item and then the goods issued are entered. Generally, the issued goods are recorded by a scanner, so the effort required and error rate can be reduced accordingly.
Batch Weighing
Batch weighing, which can be controlled using master data, is also supported by the application. If you have a cutter with a maximum capacity of 300 kg, for example, the system divides the components up into corresponding production batches (depending on the order size). The employee does not have to laboriously calculate the required quantities (with regard to the example cutting weight of 300 kg) and worry about dividing up the total amount.
Component Replacement
If you use the Component Replacement function in Meat Management, you can also use this function on the shop floor application of Further Processing Entry. The Component Replacement function serves to define corresponding replacement components when certain components are missing from the inventory (there may also be a variety of possibilities with different replacement factors), which can also be used for the production of the initial product.
Goods Receipt into Warehouse (Outbound from Further Processing Order)
All the outbound items for the further processing order are displayed. The user can select the material for which the goods issued are to be recorded. The application then branches to the standardized screen for performing the PDAO (process data acquisition operation). On this screen, the relevant data for the item and then the goods received are entered. It generally involves a possible initial product (semi-finished or finished product). However, it is also possible that by-products such as trimmings arise, which are entered back into the inventory.
Using the Softproviding shop floor applications is an option that guarantees added value for the customer along the whole line, as even existing MES systems can be integrated with ease. All of the applications described here are part of the SAP Meat Management by msg standard system and can be adapted for customer-specific requirements without much effort.
