Softproviding DGC Paves the Way for the Smart Factory

Leonardo

SAP Leonardo Plant Connectivity orchestrates IoT smart devices to create a smart factory environment! Device Gateway Controller (DGC) from Softproviding AG can now also incorporate conventional devices within a smart factory environment!

In order to operate a smart factory environment, it is necessary to ensure the IoT devices or IoT sensors it contains possess a certain logic of their own. If so, they become “smart devices” too. Simple devices, older scales, or devices with a serial or TCP/IP interface and their own access protocols cannot simply be integrated at the drop of a hat.

The new SoproTEC agent from Softproviding AG makes it possible to orchestrate these very devices – and create a smart factory environment in the process – by means of the Softproviding Device Gateway Controller, with the established driver technology, via SAP Plant Connectivity. DGC helps you protect your investments and ensures existing machinery can also reap the benefits of networked industrial applications. In addition to DGC, the SoproTEC component also contains the direct connection to the DPS/RAF or DGA shop floor apps from Softproviding AG. Labels can also be printed directly via SoproTEC using the Softproviding PrintMonitor service.

In Fiori/SAP-UI5 apps, all connected IoT devices can be managed on a bidirectional basis and are therefore cloud-ready.

SAP Leonardo + S/4HANA

The Softproviding DGC and shop floor infrastructure can be accommodated, with little effort, by solutions like SAP EWM, SAP MII, or SAP ME.

If required, SoproTEC can also be integrated into the Softproviding communications server – on a code-compatible basis – without having to use SAP Plant Connectivity. This scenario is of particular interest to customers who are not using SAP MII or SAP ME in an S/4HANA environment.
