SAP Innovation Day for the Protein and Dairy Industries
We are reflecting on a successful SAP Innovation Day for the Protein and Dairy Industries 2024, held this September in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania. International industry leaders, innovators, and experts came together to discuss the latest advancements and future trends shaping the protein and dairy sectors.
The event featured several key highlights, including inspiring keynote presentations on groundbreaking research and innovations. Attendees explored product road maps showcasing the latest technologies in the protein industry. Dynamic panel discussions focused on future protein technologies and market trends, offering valuable insights. Networking sessions further enhanced the experience by connecting industry professionals, partners, and thought leaders, fostering collaboration and idea exchange.
Notable contributions came from Softproviding’s own Stephan Kronbichler and Hubert Rupf.
They opened with an outlook on the upcoming release of SAP Meat and Fish Management by msg and SAP Dairy Management by msg, detailing the broader product strategy. They also elaborated on the ongoing development of the Shopfloor Management Software on BTP, including Edge capabilities.
A special emphasis was placed on the development of an SAP Digital Manufacturing (DM) extension tailored to the specific requirements of the protein industry. Digital Manufacturing Edge, a cornerstone of Industry 4.0, will empower manufacturers to achieve greater agility, efficiency, and innovation by bridging the gap between physical production processes and digital intelligence.
Hubert Rupf, together with Michael Rios, expanded on the potential benefits of integrating AI technology in the food industry. Their presentation centered on a use case involving AI-based recognition of meat cuts in disassembly, highlighting its transformative potential.
From a customer perspective, Vicente Olivo-Espinosa and Robin Tolani shared their experiences at Maple Leaf. They showcased how the company manages its livestock operations with Cycle-Based Production (CBP), one of the latest modules of the SAP Meat and Fish Management by msg application.
