SAP Meat and Fish Management by msg – Release 6.0

The new release SAP Meat and Fish Management 6.0 by msg for SAP S/4HANA, which is based on SAP Release 2023, has been enhanced with additional functions and tools. The scope of the new features and optimizations clearly marks this as a powerful update of the tried-and-tested solution. This time, the focus was on the Classified Procurement module, a new development and the latest addition to the Meat and Fish Management solution. For interested customers for whom the following overview does not seem detailed enough, we recommend reading the Release Notes, which are very extensive this time.

New: Classified Procurement – Livestock Procurement and Slaughtered Stock Settlement in line with the S/4 standard process

The Classified Procurement module supports customers from various industries in purchasing unclassified materials such as live animals, the quality of which is usually only known after slaughter. It combines the class and characteristics management feature of the SAP standard system with the ability to assign values to the characteristics of objects flexibly.

The transfer of characteristic values (inheritance) takes place in the Migration Cockpit. It occurs from the source object to the target object. This happens across all class types. Examples of this are the inheritance of characteristic values of a vendor to an inbound delivery or an inbound delivery to a purchase order.

The Classification Cockpit extends the existing classification option and simplifies it through mass maintenance. It can be used to classify any defined objects with corresponding characteristics. The cockpit provides a transparent overview using traffic light status. SAP status management was integrated into CP for this purpose. Furthermore, an extensive range of plausibility checks has been integrated into the traffic light status.

The results of classification and migration are billed using the Settlement Cockpit. According to the selection you have made, the desired purchase orders, any existing deliveries, and handling units are displayed on the screen. The characteristic values in turn feed into the price and condition technology for calculating prices as well as surcharges and discounts on the pricing screen. A parameter for pricing, which controls a group of condition types, is now also integrated into settlement and can be assigned accordingly or adjusted by means of a mass update. Settings for invoicing can be made on an individual basis for each customer.

In the course of the innovations, Findings Management, too, was redesigned. The characteristic is now the central element of findings. Here too, the relationships between findings have a controlling function.

An absolute novelty is the possibility of assigning the medicaments administered to the animals in the past to an order item. This allows compliance with country-specific regulations to be checked using the master data.

The Activities Cockpit in turn allows you to carry out activities in Classified Procurement. These are defined in Customizing and make it possible to execute additional automated processes, such as the creation of additional order items or production orders or the posting of goods receipts or goods issues for a settlement in the Settlement Cockpit.

Powerful innovations and optimizations in Disassembly and Further Processing

Several important adjustments have been made to Disassembly. In the past, the posting date was defined in the configuration and could not be changed subsequently. It can now be set or adjusted manually if required.

It is also no longer necessary to use one single order type. The customer can now use different order types if the various disassembly processes have been defined in advance.

For the output entry in Disassembly Order or Further Processing Order, it is possible to redefine whether a change ID is activated for a logistical process in Change ID Control Customizing – this is to prevent the user from inadvertently selecting the wrong change ID.

In Further Processing Order, the size of the production batches can now be controlled using additional parameters:

  • Distributing the remaining quantity
  • Proportional distribution
  • Filling the batches up to the maximum quantity
  • Allocate the remaining quantity to the last production batch

Process Data Acquisition

Process Data Acquisition has been extended for further processing orders, process orders and disassembly orders so that change IDs can be selected in the input screens for Further Processing and Disassembly Entry as well as in the corresponding RAF applications as part of pair and quota formation.

The user is now also supported by a plausibility check when creating Process Data Acquisition operations.

The PDA strategy with quota calculation in further processing orders can now also be entered manually. Depending on the case, pair formation is then automatically deactivated.

When calculating the production date and best-before date, it is now possible to define different logics for calculating the expiry date. There is a new Customizing option (SLED calculation) for this with corresponding entries for control.

New in DPS and Shopfloor

There are also a number of innovations and optimizations in the DPS and Shopfloor areas.

In DPS, the MRP calculation could previously be called up via hotspot. Instead of having the target specified by the system, the user branches via a hotspot in push planning directly to the item of the selected material in the cut list. The existing pull with BOM process has been extended so that the user can adjust the quantity of the production order on the day of production.

Cockpits for Livestock Management

The Planning process in the DPS process area Meat: Cycle-Based Production now has the additional Assignment Cockpit view. The corresponding selection can be used to select source production cycles in order to process the target production cycles later in the Assignments data area using the corresponding functions.

New DPS-RAF functions

  • A new feature is that HU management processes are now handled with DPS-RAF. A new process area is delivered in DPS-RAF for this purpose.
  • A new application for production batching was delivered as a template with Release 6.0.
  • A new DPS-RAF application template has been created so that goods receipts for deliveries can be entered directly.
  • What is also new is that simple maintenance processes can now also be handled with DPS-RAF. A new process area is to be defined in DPS-RAF for this purpose.
